AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184), entitled
2"An act defining honey and regulating its sale and the
3labeling and sale of imitations of honey; and providing
4penalties for violation," further providing for a standard of
5identity for manufactured honey.

6The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7hereby enacts as follows:

8Section 1. The act of July 20, 1974 (P.L.537, No.184),
9referred to as the Honey Sale and Labeling Act, is amended by
10adding a section to read:

11Section 2.1. The Secretary of Agriculture shall, within one
12year of the effective date of this section, promulgate
13regulations to establish a standard of identity for honey which
14standard shall apply to all honey manufactured, sold, kept for
15sale or exposed or offered for sale in this Commonwealth. In
16establishing the standard, the secretary shall commence with the
17Codex Standard for Honey approved and adopted by the Codex
18Alimentarius Commission and shall explain the reason for any

1modification of the Codex Standard for Honey prior to finalizing
2the regulations.

3Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
