AN ACT
1Designating a bridge on that portion of S.R. 3019 over the
2Schuylkill River, City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County,
3as the Honorable Robert C. Donatucci Memorial Bridge.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Honorable Robert C. Donatucci Memorial Bridge.
7(a) Findings.--
8(1) Robert "Bobby" Donatucci was a Democratic member of
9the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the
10185th Legislative District from 1980 until 2010. The 185th
11District includes the 26th Ward in South Philadelphia, half
12of the 40th Ward in Southwest Philadelphia and three
13communities in Delaware County: Darby Township, Darby Borough
1and Colwyn Borough.
2(2) A native of Philadelphia, Representative Donatucci
3graduated from Bishop Neuman High School in 1970 and
4from Temple University in 1974 where he majored in political
5science.
6(3) He was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of
7Representatives in a special election on March 11, 1980.
8(4) Representative Donatucci served as chair of the
9House Liquor Control Committee from 1993 until his passing.
10As chairman of the Liquor Control Committee, he was charged
11with overseeing the State Store system that dated to the end
12of Prohibition and worked tirelessly on the prevention of
13underage drinking.
14(5) Representative Donatucci was well respected in his
15community and had a passion for classic cars.
16(6) Sadly, on November 9, 2010, Representative Robert
17Donatucci passed away suddenly.
18(7) He is survived by his wife, Maria; two children,
19Dierdre and Thomas; mother, Yolanda; brothers, Ronald and
20Thomas and sisters, Rita and Maria.
21(b) Designation.--The bridge carrying S.R. 3019 over the
22Schuylkill River in the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia
23County, commonly known as the Passyunk Avenue Bridge, is hereby
24designated as the Honorable Robert C. Donatucci Memorial Bridge.
25(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
26maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
27traffic in both directions on the bridge.
28Section 2. Effective date.
29This act shall take effect in 60 days.
