1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, in commercial drivers, further providing for
3definitions and for requirement for commercial driver's
4license.

5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:

7Section 1. Section 1603 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
8Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a definition to read:

9§ 1603. Definitions.

10The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
11shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
12context clearly indicates otherwise:

14"Recently discharged veteran." An individual who has been
15honorably discharged from the armed forces in the past four
16years.

18Section 2. Section 1606(b) of Title 75 is amended by adding

1a paragraph to read:

2§ 1606. Requirement for commercial driver's license.

4(b) Exemptions.--The following persons are not required to
5obtain a commercial driver's license in order to drive the
6commercial motor vehicle specified:

8(8) Any recently discharged veteran.

10Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
