AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2act relating to the public school system, including certain
3provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5laws relating thereto," further providing for Keystone Exams.

6The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
7hereby enacts as follows:

8Section 1. Section 121 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
9No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, added June 30,
102012 (P.L.684, No.82), is amended to read:

11Section 121. Keystone Exams.--Subject to annual
12appropriation, [not] the following shall apply:

13(1) Not later than the 2020-2021 school year, the Department
14of Education shall develop and implement Keystone Exams in the
15following subjects: algebra I, literature, biology, English
16composition[,] and civics and government.

17(2) Not earlier than the 2022-2023 school year, the 
18Department of Education may develop and implement Keystone Exams 
19in the following subjects: algebra II, geometry, United States

1history, chemistry[, civics and government] and world history.
2The State Board of Education shall promulgate or amend
3regulations, subject to the act of June 25, 1982 (P.L.633,
4No.181), known as the "Regulatory Review Act," necessary to
5implement this section.

6Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
