AN ACT
1Amending the act of October 24, 2012 (P.L.1209, No.151),
2entitled "An act regulating child labor; conferring powers
3and duties on the Department of Labor and Industry and the
4Department of Education; imposing penalties; and making a
5repeal," further providing for definitions and for
6occupations and establishment.
7The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8hereby enacts as follows:
9Section 1. Section 2 of the act of October 24, 2012
10(P.L.1209, No.151), known as the Child Labor Act, is amended by
11adding a definition to read:
12Section 2. Definitions.
13The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
14have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
15context clearly indicates otherwise:

17"Youth sports official." A minor who enforces the rules and
18supervises the participants of a youth sporting event,
19including, but not limited to, an umpire or referee.
1Section 2. Section 4(d) of the act is amended by adding a
2paragraph to read:
3Section 4. Occupations and establishments.

5(d) Occupations for minors less than 14 years of age.--An
6individual less than 14 years of age may be employed as follows:

8(3) An individual who is at least 12 years of age may be
9employed as a youth sports official<-. and shall not be
10required to procure a work permit. Youth sports officials who
11are 12 and 13 years of age shall be subject to the same
12limitations established in section 3 for individuals who are
1314 and 15 years of age.
14Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
