AN ACT
1Designating the bridge on State Route 74 between Drawbaugh
2Avenue and Mill Alley, Dover Borough, York County, as the
3Sergeant Brett E. Walden Memorial Bridge.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Sgt. Brett E. Walden Memorial Bridge.
7(a) Findings.--
8(1) Sgt. First Class Brett E. Walden, age 40, was killed
9in action on August 5, 2005, in Rabiah, Iraq, while serving
10this nation in the United States Army.
11(2) Sgt. Walden, whose home was in Dover Borough, York
12County, was an Airborne Ranger Instructor with the 5th
13Special Forces Group based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
14(3) Sgt. Walden was a decorated soldier, having attained
15the Expert Infantry Badge, the Combat Infantry Badge, the
16Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Global War on Terrorism
1Expeditionary Medal, the Iraqi and Afghanistan Campaign
2Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal
3and the Purple Heart.
4(4) He is survived by his wife, Autumn, and their
5daughter, Alexandra.
6(b) Designation.--The bridge located on State Route 74
7between Drawbaugh Avenue and Mill Alley, Dover Borough, York
8County, is hereby designated as the Sergeant Brett E. Walden
9Memorial Bridge.
10(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
11maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
12traffic in both directions on the bridge.
13Section 2. Effective date.
14This act shall take effect in 60 days.
