AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), entitled
2"An act concerning elections, including general, municipal,
3special and primary elections, the nomination of candidates,
4primary and election expenses and election contests; creating
5and defining membership of county boards of elections;
6imposing duties upon the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
7courts, county boards of elections, county commissioners;
8imposing penalties for violation of the act, and codifying,
9revising and consolidating the laws relating thereto; and
10repealing certain acts and parts of acts relating to
11elections," further providing for polling places selected by
12a county board and for regulations for polling places.

13The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
14hereby enacts as follows:

15Section 1. Section 526(a) of the act of June 3, 1937
16(P.L.1333, No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code, is
17amended by adding subsections to read:

18Section 526. Polling Places to Be Selected by County
19Board.--* * *

20(d) A polling place selected under this article must be free
21of all political material on the day of a primary or election.

22(e) As used in this section, the term "political material" 

1shall mean pamphlets, posters, signs, advertisements or other 
2printed, photographed, painted or written materials or 
3statements, that identify or indicate support for or opposition 
4to a candidate, political party, political body or a ballot 
5question. The term does not include materials prepared by the 
6Secretary of the Commonwealth or a county board of elections 
7under this act.

8Section 2. Section 1220(c) of the act is amended to read:

9Section 1220. Regulations in Force at Polling Places.--* * *

10(c) No person, when within the polling place, shall
11electioneer or solicit votes for any political party, political
12body or candidate, nor shall any written, painted or printed
13matter be posted up within the said room, except as required by
14this act.
