1Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in juries and jurors,
3further providing for exemptions from jury duty.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 4503(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding paragraphs to read:

8§ 4503. Exemptions from jury duty.

9(a) General rule.--No person shall be exempt or excused from
10jury duty except the following:

12(6) Parents or guardians who have custody of a child
13under seven years of age, who are the primary caregivers of
14the child and who opt not to serve.

15(7) Parents or guardians who have custody of a school
16age child who has been excused from compulsory attendance at
17school or special education program, who provide instruction

1for the child and who opt not to serve.

2(8) Persons who are primary caregivers of an elderly or
3disabled family member and who opt not to serve.
