1Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the offense of
3retail theft.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 3929(b)(1)(v) of Title 18 of the
7Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 3929. Retail theft.

10(b) Grading.--

11(1) Retail theft constitutes a:

13(v) Felony of the third degree when the amount
14involved exceeds [$2,000] $1,000 or if the merchandise
15involved is a firearm or a motor vehicle.

17Section 2. The amendment of 18 Pa.C.S. § 3929(b)(1)(v) shall

1apply to offenses committed on or after the effective date of
2this section.

3Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
