AN ACT
1Making an appropriation to the Department of Education to
2promote activities and services to increase the preparation,
3enrollment and success of low-income students in
4postsecondary education.
5The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6hereby enacts as follows:
7Section 1. Legislative intent.
8The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
9(1) It is the intent of the General Assembly to continue
10to promote activities and services to increase the
11preparation, enrollment and success of low-income students in
12postsecondary education.
13(2) This act provides funding to continue activities in
14this Commonwealth previously carried out under the federally
15funded College Access Challenge Grant Program by supporting
16these activities and services with State funds.
17Section 2. Appropriation.
18The sum of $4,200,000, or as much thereof as may be
1necessary, is appropriated to the Department of Education for
2the fiscal year July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014, to promote
3activities and services to increase the preparation, enrollment
4and success of low-income students in postsecondary education.
5Section 3. Effective date.
6This act shall take effect immediately.
