AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for special plates for Pearl
3Harbor survivors, for special plates for veterans of Korean
4War, for special plates for recipients of Korean Defense
5Service Medal, for special plates for veterans of Persian
6Gulf War, for special plates for recipients of Expeditionary
7Forces Medal, for special plates for World War II veterans,
8for special plates for veterans of Vietnam Conflict, for
9special motorcycle plates for veterans, for Operation Iraqi
10Freedom veterans plate, for Operation Enduring Freedom
11veterans plate, for special plates for veterans and for Gold
12Star Family plate.

13The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
14hereby enacts as follows:

15Section 1. Sections 1348, 1350, 1350.1, 1351, 1356, 1357,
161360, 1361, 1362 and 1363 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
17Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:

18§ 1348. Special plates for Pearl Harbor survivors.

19Upon application of any person who is a survivor of Pearl
20Harbor, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 which shall be in
21addition to the annual registration fee and by such

1documentation as the department shall require, the department
2shall issue to such person a special registration plate
3designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a person who
4is a survivor of Pearl Harbor. The special registration plate
5may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a registered
6gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

7§ 1350. Special plates for veterans of Korean War.

8Upon application of any person who is a veteran of the Korean
9War, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50, which shall be in
10addition to the annual registration fee, and by such
11documentation as the department shall require, the department
12shall issue to the person a special registration plate
13designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a person who
14is a veteran of the Korean War. The special registration plate
15may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a registered
16gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

17§ 1350.1. Special plates for recipients of Korean Defense
18Service Medal.

19Upon application of any person who is a recipient of the
20Korean Defense Service Medal, accompanied by a fee of [$20]
21$7.50 which shall be in addition to the annual registration fee
22and by such documentation as the department shall require, the
23department shall issue to the person a special registration
24plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a
25person who is a recipient of the Korean Defense Service Medal.
26The department shall design and produce the special registration
27plate. The special registration plate may be used only on a
28passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not
29more than 10,000 pounds.

30§ 1351. Special plates for veterans of Persian Gulf War.

1Upon application of any person who is a veteran of the
2Persian Gulf War, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50, which
3shall be in addition to the annual registration fee, and by such
4documentation as the department shall require, the department
5shall issue to the person a special registration plate
6designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a person who
7is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. The special registration
8plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a
9registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

10§ 1356. Special plates for recipients of Expeditionary Forces
11Medal.

12Upon application of any person who is a recipient of the
13Expeditionary Forces Medal, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50
14which shall be in addition to the annual registration fee and by
15such documentation as the department shall require, the
16department shall issue to such person a special registration
17plate designating the vehicle so registered as belonging to a
18person who is a recipient of the Expeditionary Forces Medal. The
19special registration plate may be used only on a passenger car
20or truck with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000
21pounds.

22§ 1357. Special plates for World War II veterans.

23Upon application of any person who is a veteran of World War
24II, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 which shall be in
25addition to the annual registration fee and by such
26documentation as the department shall require, the department
27shall issue to such person a special registration plate carrying
28the symbol of a ruptured duck designating the vehicle so
29registered as belonging to a person who is a veteran of World
30War II. The special registration plate may be used only on a

1passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not
2more than 10,000 pounds.

3§ 1360. Special plates for veterans of Vietnam Conflict.

4Upon application of any person who is a veteran of the
5Vietnam Conflict as that term is defined for the awarding of the
6Vietnam Service Medal, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 in
7addition to the annual registration fee and by such
8documentation as the department shall require, the department
9shall issue to the person a special registration plate
10designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a person who
11is a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. The special registration
12plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a
13registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

14§ 1361. Special motorcycle plates for veterans.

15Upon application of any person who is an honorably discharged
16veteran of the armed forces of the United States, or a reserve
17component of the armed forces as defined in 51 Pa.C.S. § 7301
18(relating to definitions), accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 
19which shall be in addition to the annual registration fee and by
20such documentation as the department shall require, the
21department shall issue to the person a special registration
22plate designating the vehicle as belonging to a person who is a
23veteran. The special registration plate may be used only on a
24motorcycle.

25§ 1362. Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans plate.

26Upon application of any person who is a veteran of the
27liberation or occupation of Iraq, accompanied by a fee of [$20]
28$7.50 which shall be in addition to the annual registration fee
29and by documentation as the department shall require, the
30department shall issue to the person a special registration

1plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a
2person who is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The special
3registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck
4with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

5§ 1363. Operation Enduring Freedom veterans plate.

6Upon application of any person who is a veteran of the
7liberation or occupation of Afghanistan, accompanied by a fee of
8[$20] $7.50 which shall be in addition to the annual
9registration fee and by documentation as the department shall
10require, the department shall issue to the person a special
11registration plate designating the vehicle so licensed as
12belonging to a person who is a veteran of Operation Enduring
13Freedom. The special registration plate may be used only on a
14passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not
15more than 10,000 pounds.

16Section 2. Section 1364(a) of Title 75, amended October 24,
172012 (P.L.1602, No.194), is amended to read:

18§ 1364. Special plates for veterans.

19(a) Honorably discharged veterans.--Upon application of any
20person who is an honorably discharged veteran of the armed
21forces of the United States or a reserve component of the armed
22forces as defined in 51 Pa.C.S. § 7301 (relating to
23definitions), accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 which shall be
24in addition to the annual registration fee and by such
25documentation as the department shall require, the department
26shall issue to the person a special registration plate
27designating the vehicle as belonging to a person who is a
28veteran of the armed forces of the United States. The special
29registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck
30with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

2Section 3. Section 1365 of Title 75 is amended to read:

3§ 1365. Gold Star Family plate.

4(a) General rule.--Upon application of a family member of a
5person who was killed while serving on active duty in the
6military, accompanied by a fee of [$20] $7.50 which shall be in
7addition to the annual registration fee and by such
8documentation as the department shall require, the department
9shall issue to the family member a special registration plate
10designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a family
11member of a person who was killed while serving on active duty
12in the military. The department shall design and produce the
13special registration plate carrying the Service Flag Gold Star
14rimmed with blue which represents sacrifice to the cause of
15liberty and freedom. The words "Gold Star Family" shall be
16clearly displayed along the bottom of the plate. The special
17registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck
18with a registered gross weight of not more than 10,000 pounds.

20Section 4. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
