1Amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for organization of commission.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Section 301(a) and (c) of Title 34 of the
6Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:

7§ 301. Organization of commission.

8(a) Composition.--The independent administrative commission
9known as the Pennsylvania Game Commission shall consist of eight
10competent citizens of this Commonwealth who shall be well
11informed on the subject of wildlife conservation and restoration
12and who shall be appointed by the Governor, by and with the
13advice and consent of [two-thirds] a majority of the elected
14members of the Senate.

16(c) Term of office and compensation.--The members of the

1commission shall hold office for terms of [eight years each and
2may continue to hold office for a period of time not to exceed
3six months or] four years and until a successor is appointed and
4qualified.[, whichever occurs first. A member of the commission
5appointed to fill a vacancy for a period of four years or less
6may be eligible for appointment to a full eight-year term. A
7member of the commission who serves a full eight-year term or
8fills a vacancy for a period of more than four years shall not
9be eligible for reappointment to the commission until a period
10of eight years expires.] Commissioners shall receive no
11compensation for their services, but may be reimbursed for
12travel expenses.

<-14Section 2. The following shall apply:

15(1) Except as provided under paragraph (2), the
16amendment of 34 Pa.C.S. § 301(a) and (c) shall apply to
17members of the Pennsylvania Game Commission who are appointed
18on or after the effective date of this section.

19(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), a member of the
20Pennsylvania Game Commission who serves a full eight-year
21term or fills a vacancy for a period of more than four years
22shall be eligible for reappointment to the commission at any
23time.

24Section <-2 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
