AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2act relating to the public school system, including certain
3provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5laws relating thereto," further providing for granting of
6provisional college certificates; and providing for
7provisional vocational education certificates.

8The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9hereby enacts as follows:

10Section 1. Section 1204 of the act of March 10, 1949
11(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
12amended October 21, 1965 (P.L.601, No.312), is amended to read:

13Section 1204. Granting Provisional College Certificates.--
14The [Superintendent of Public Instruction] Secretary of 
15Education may grant a provisional college certificate to every
16person who presents to [him] the Department of Education
17satisfactory evidence of good moral character, and of being a
18graduate of an approved college or university, who has completed
19such work in education as may be required by the standards of

1the State Board of Education, and to every person who presents
2to [him] the Department of Education satisfactory evidence of
3good moral character, and of being a graduate of music, with the
4degree of bachelor of music of an approved college or
5university, who has during such musical course completed the
6prescribed number of hours of professional studies, which
7certificate shall entitle [him] the individual to teach for
8three annual school terms, and may be renewed for one additional
9three-year period in accordance with standards to be established
10by the State Board of Education.

11Section 2. The act is amended by adding a section to read:

12Section 1204.2. Provisional Vocational Education
13Certificate.--The Secretary of Education may grant a provisional
14vocational education certificate to every person who presents to
15the Department of Education satisfactory evidence of good moral
16character, and who has completed such work in vocational
17education as may be required by the standards of the State Board
18of Education, which certificate shall entitle the individual to
19teach for eight annual school terms.

20Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
