AN ACT
1Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled, as
2reenacted and amended, "An act concerning townships of the
3second class; and amending, revising, consolidating and
4changing the law relating thereto," in corporate powers,
5further providing for appropriations for hospitals and for
6tourist promotion agencies.
7The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8hereby enacts as follows:
9Section 1. Sections 1526 and 1544 of the act of May 1, 1933
10(P.L.103, No.69), known as The Second Class Township Code,
11reenacted and amended November 9, 1995 (P.L.350, No.60), are
12amended to read:
13Section 1526. Hospitals.--The board of supervisors may
14appropriate [not exceeding one dollar ($1) for each township
15resident] moneys each year toward the erection, maintenance or
16support of any medical center or hospital building facilities.
17If the total cost of the purchase or erection exceeds one
18hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), approval by the appropriate
19health planning agency is required. [The number of residents is
1determined from the latest official census.]
2Section 1544. Tourist Promotion Agencies.--The board of
3supervisors may appropriate moneys [not in excess of ten cents
4(10¢) for each resident of the township, as determined by the
5latest official census,] to any tourist promotion agency, as
6defined in the act of <-[April 28, 1961 (P.L.111, No.50), known as
7the "Tourist Promotion Law,"<-] July 4, 2008 (P.L.621, No.50),
8known as the "Tourism Promotion Act," to assist the agencies in
9carrying out tourist promotional activities.
10Section 2. This act shall take effect <-January 1, 2013, or
11immediately, whichever is later <-immediately.
