1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for accidents involving death or
3personal injury.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 3742(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 3742. Accidents involving death or personal injury.

9(a) General rule.--

10(1) The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident
11resulting in injury or death of any person shall immediately
12stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident or as close
13thereto as possible but shall then forthwith return to and in
14every event shall remain at the scene of the accident until
15he has fulfilled the requirements of section 3744 (relating
16to duty to give information and render aid). Every stop shall
17be made without obstructing traffic more than is necessary.

1(2) An occupant of any vehicle involved in an accident
2resulting in injury or death of any person shall, upon
3failure of the driver of the vehicle to comply with the
4requirements of paragraph (1), report the accident as soon as
5the occupant is physically able to the nearest office of an
6authorized police department.
