AN ACT

 

1Designating a bridge on that portion of S.R. 49 over the
2Cowanesque Creek, Harrison Valley, Potter County, as the
3Specialist Kenneth Wayne Lampman, Sr., Memorial Bridge;
4designating a bridge on that portion of S.R. 44 in
5Shinglehouse, Potter County, over the Oswayo Creek as the
6Specialist Gerald Duane Stonemetz Memorial Bridge; and
7designating a bridge on that portion of Mill Street in
8Galeton, Potter County, over the Pine Creek as the Private
9First Class Clark Robert Douglas Memorial Bridge.

10The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
11hereby enacts as follows:

12Section 1. Specialist Kenneth Wayne Lampman, Sr., Memorial
13Bridge.

14(a) Findings.--

15(1) Specialist 4C Kenneth Wayne Lampman, Sr., a resident
16of Harrison Valley, attended Northern Potter High School and
17served in the United States Army as an aircraft maintenance
18mechanic with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam.

1(2) While bravely serving his country, Specialist 4C
2Lampman was killed on March 5, 1967, when his helicopter
3crashed in Vietnam.

4(b) Designation.--The bridge located on S.R. 49 at segment
5460 offset <-1188 1088 in Harrison Valley, Potter County, over the
6Cowanesque Creek is hereby designated the Specialist Kenneth
7Wayne Lampman, Sr., Memorial Bridge.

8(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
9maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
10traffic in both directions on the bridge.

11Section 2. Specialist Gerald Duane Stonemetz Memorial Bridge.

12(a) Findings.--

13(1) United States Army Specialist 4 Gerald Duane
14Stonemetz of Shinglehouse was killed on January 8, 1969,
15while serving his country in Vietnam.

16(2) Specialist 4 Stonemetz was awarded the Army
17Commendation Medal, the National Defense Medal, Vietnam
18Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and Marksman Badge
19with rifle bar.

20(b) Designation.--The bridge located on S.R. 44 segment 1090 
<-21offset 0093 in Shinglehouse Borough, Potter County, over the
22Oswayo Creek is hereby designated the Specialist Gerald Duane
23Stonemetz Memorial Bridge.

24(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
25maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
26traffic in both directions on the bridge.

27Section 3. Private First Class Clark Robert Douglas Memorial
28Bridge.

29(a) Findings.--

30(1) Private First Class Clark Robert Douglas graduated

1from Galeton High School and attended Williamsport School of
2Commerce prior to joining the United States Army.

3(2) Private First Class Douglas, a medic attached to the
41st Air Cavalry Division Charlie Company, was killed while
5administering aid to a wounded soldier on November 11, 1969,
6at Firebase LZ Jeri in Phouc Long Province, Vietnam.

7(3) Private First Class Douglas was awarded medals for
8bravery and heroism for his rendering aid to wounded soldiers
9in the midst of enemy fire. Although thrown to the ground by
10a burst of impacting mortar round, he persistently crawled in
11to the fusillade to assist his fellow soldiers when he was
12mortally struck by another round of fire.

13(b) Designation.--The bridge located on S.R. 1022 segment 20 
<-14offset 0000 Mill Street in Galeton Borough, Potter County, over
15the Pine Creek is hereby designated the Private First Class
16Clark Robert Douglas Memorial Bridge.

17(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
18maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
19traffic in both directions on the bridge.

20Section 4. Effective date.

21This act shall take effect in 60 days.
