SENATE RESOLUTION

INTRODUCED BY KITCHEN, BREWSTER, STACK, FARNESE, WASHINGTON, DINNIMAN, PILEGGI, BOSCOLA, BROWNE, SCHWANK, GREENLEAF, SOLOBAY, TARTAGLIONE, WILLIAMS, FERLO, PIPPY AND EARLL, MARCH 26, 2012

INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, MARCH 26, 2012  

A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of April 2012 as "Minority Health Month"

in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, April is National Minority Health Month; and

WHEREAS, This year's theme for National Minority Health

Month, "Health Equity Can't Wait, Act Now in Your Community!",

is a community call to action to raise awareness in order to

reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities;

and

WHEREAS, April 2012 marks the first anniversary of the launch

of the United States Department of Health and Human Services

Action Plan to Reduce Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities and

its National Stakeholder Strategy for Achieving Health Equity

which provides a common set of goals and objectives for public

and private sector initiatives and partnerships to help racial

and ethnic minorities and other underserved groups to reach

their full potential; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of April 2012

as "Minority Health Month" in Pennsylvania.
