| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating May 2011 as "Junior Achievement Month" in |
2 | Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is the world's largest |
4 | organization dedicated to educating students about work force |
5 | readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through |
6 | experiential, hands-on programs; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement reaches out to more than 250,000 |
8 | students in kindergarten through grade 12 in public and private |
9 | school systems in this Commonwealth with a message of hope and |
10 | prosperity for the future; and |
11 | WHEREAS, In Junior Achievement, programs help prepare young |
12 | people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth |
13 | and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their |
14 | communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial |
15 | thinking to the workplace; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement's purpose is to inspire and |

1 | prepare each and every child in this Commonwealth to succeed in |
2 | the global economy; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the boundless |
4 | potential of young people, is committed to the principles of |
5 | market-based economics and entrepreneurship, is passionate for |
6 | what they do while practicing honesty, integrity and excellence, |
7 | respects the talents, creativity, perspectives and backgrounds |
8 | of all individuals, believes in the power of partnership and |
9 | collaboration and has conviction in the educational and |
10 | motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by |
12 | strengthening communities with proven programs that focus on |
13 | work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Junior Achievement commemorates the 72nd anniversary |
15 | of its founding in this Commonwealth in 2011; therefore be it |
16 | RESOLVED, That the Senate designate May 2011 as "Junior |
17 | Achievement Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further |
18 | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to |
19 | Dennis Gilfoyle, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania, One |
20 | Allegheny Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. |
