A RESOLUTION

Recognizing October 2012 as "Prayer Month" in Pennsylvania.

2

WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania holds that all men

3

have the right to worship according to the dictates of their

4

consciences and no human authority can control or interfere with

5

this right; and

6

WHEREAS, With this right, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

7

designates October 2012 as Prayer Month for the purpose of

8

setting aside time to pray; and

9

WHEREAS, This event was not created for political reasons or

10

to promote any other agenda except prayer; and

11

WHEREAS, Prayer Month is designed to pray for leaders,

12

communities, families, children and for one another; and

13

WHEREAS, To millions of people across the world, prayer is

14

recognized as the most important utterance for the benefit of

15

humankind; and

16

WHEREAS, With this recognition, prayer has aided many people

throughout the history of this nation and Commonwealth when

2

support and guidance were needed; and

3

WHEREAS, Prayer Month is a time to ask for healing for

4

ourselves and the nation; and

5

WHEREAS, This special month is also a time to bring people

6

together in true unity and to bring mutual trust, knowledge,

7

justice and cooperation; and 

8

WHEREAS, Prayer Month is an opportunity to fill our hearts

9

with inspiration, gratitude and appreciation for all of our

10

blessings; and

11

WHEREAS, As we remain mindful of our blessings, we must also

12

recognize the hunger and devastation of many that have suffered

13

through tragedy; therefore be it 

14

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare October

15

2012 as "Prayer Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further 

16

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

17

each church of the 180th Legislative District participating in

18

the peace march on October 13, 2012.
