| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Memorializing the Congress of the United States to pass H.R. |
2 | 5873, known as the Forest Products Fairness Act of 2012. |
3 | WHEREAS, H.R. 5873, known as the Forest Products Fairness Act |
4 | of 2012, proposes to include forest products in the definition |
5 | of "biobased product," as well as the USDA Biobased Markets |
6 | Program; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Including forest products in the USDA Biobased |
8 | Markets Program will provide the opportunity for forest products |
9 | to receive increased consumer attention and Federal Government |
10 | procurement preference; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Forestry is a vital industry in this Commonwealth; |
12 | and |
13 | WHEREAS, The timber and forest products industry provides |
14 | more than 100,000 jobs in Pennsylvania; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The industry produces more than $5 billion worth of |
16 | products annually; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Pennsylvania hardwood products are exported around |

1 | the globe and are famous for their beauty and quality; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Forestry material, a biobased product, can be |
3 | utilized for recycling purposes; therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the |
5 | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize Congress to pass H.R. |
6 | 5873, known as the Forest Products Fairness Act of 2012; and be |
7 | it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to |
9 | the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each |
10 | member of Congress from Pennsylvania. |
