| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring Mt. Lebanon School District on the 100th anniversary of |
2 | its founding. |
3 | WHEREAS, Mt. Lebanon School District, located in Allegheny |
4 | County, was founded in July 1912, with approximately 200 |
5 | students and four school buildings; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Over the course of decades, Mt. Lebanon School |
7 | District expanded to include ten schools that today serve more |
8 | than 5,000 students from kindergarten through 12th grade; and |
9 | WHEREAS, These ten schools include Foster Elementary School, |
10 | Hoover Elementary School, Howe Elementary School, Jefferson |
11 | Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, Lincoln Elementary |
12 | School, Markham Elementary School, Mellon Middle School, Mt. |
13 | Lebanon Senior High School and Washington Elementary School; and |
14 | WHEREAS, The mission of the Mt. Lebanon School District is |
15 | "To Provide the Best Education Possible for Each and Every |
|
1 | Student"; and |
2 | WHEREAS, For many years, Mt. Lebanon School District has been |
3 | an award-winning and nationally recognized school district, |
4 | which embraces a vision of pursuing excellence and is guided by |
5 | a philosophy of seeking continuous improvement in every area of |
6 | endeavor; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Mt. Lebanon School District |
8 | students have distinguished themselves in a variety of |
9 | endeavors, including academics, the arts and athletics, by |
10 | earning honors on the national, State and local levels; and |
11 | WHEREAS, These talented students have benefited from the |
12 | dedication of highly capable teachers, administrators, coaches |
13 | and other staff, together with families committed to the |
14 | students' present and future success; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The longstanding support and involvement of the |
16 | community has been a hallmark of Mt. Lebanon School District's |
17 | tradition of maintaining a standard of excellence in academics |
18 | and other activities, including athletics and the arts; and |
19 | WHEREAS, The Mt. Lebanon School District is one of this |
20 | Commonwealth's great success stories in public education; |
21 | therefore be it |
22 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the Mt. |
23 | Lebanon School District for 100 years of excellence in |
24 | successfully educating students and preparing them to be good |
25 | citizens and to make positive contributions to society; and be |
26 | it further |
27 | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to |
28 | Dr. Timothy Steinhauer, Superintendent of Schools, Mt. Lebanon |
29 | School District, 7 Horsman Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15228-1107. |
