INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 21, 2012  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Bobby Gerhart on his successful career in auto

racing and his record eight Automobile Racing Club of America

series victories at Daytona International Speedway.

WHEREAS, Bobby Gerhart, a Lebanon County native, began his

auto racing career by winning his very first feature race at

Linda's Speedway in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gerhart is a second-generation race car driver,

following in the footsteps of his father, the late Bobby

Gerhart, Sr., a noted driver and member of the Eastern

Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gerhart entered the Automobile Racing Club of

America (ARCA) series in 1988 and was named Rookie of the Year;

and

WHEREAS, Through hard work and dedication to his sport, Mr.

Gerhart has compiled a successful career of victories and top

ten finishes in the ARCA series; and

WHEREAS, In February 2012, Mr. Gerhart won the Lucas Oil

Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway, his record

eighth victory and third in a row at that legendary racetrack;

and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gerhart's achievements, professionalism and

superb racing skills have earned him the respect of fans and

fellow racers in Pennsylvania and across the country; therefore

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Bobby

Gerhart for his long and successful racing career, his

unprecedented success at Daytona International Speedway and his

continued commitment to promoting the sport of auto racing; and

be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

Bobby Gerhart, 2400 East Cumberland Street, Lebanon, PA

17042-9214.
