A RESOLUTION

Celebrating and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the

2

establishment of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association,

3

whose mission is to advocate for public safety and to

4

represent those who protect and serve this Commonwealth as

5

Pennsylvania State Troopers.

6

WHEREAS, The Conference of State Police Lodges was founded in

7

January 1962, with Homer Redd elected as president at their

8

first meeting in Williamsport, PA; and

9

WHEREAS, This organization was further incorporated as the

10

Pennsylvania State Troopers Association in November of 1989 and

11

was comprised of fifteen Trooper FOP Lodges; and

12

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association exists

to help protect those who protect us and to serve those who

2

serve this Commonwealth; and

3

WHEREAS, It is the mission of the Pennsylvania State Troopers

4

Association to obtain and defend employment contracts for its

5

membership and, coupled with continued funding, adequate support

6

and cooperation from State and local government, to allow for

7

the continued tradition of exemplary service persistently

8

displayed from our State Police; and 

9

WHEREAS, In perilous times, it is more important than ever

10

for the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association to provide

11

constant assistance and strong leadership for its members; and

12

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association works to

13

ensure that all citizens of this Commonwealth have adequate

14

police protection by advocating for sufficient funding of troop

15

complements and resources; and

16

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association has

17

worked to pass legislation that provides benefits for surviving

18

family members when a trooper has made the ultimate sacrifice,

19

and further established the Fallen Trooper Memorial located at

20

the Matamoras Visitor Center on I-84; and

21

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association is

22

recognized nationally among its peer organizations as one of

23

utmost professionalism and for its advocacy for public safety;

24

therefore be it

25

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives applaud the

26

continuing efforts of the Pennsylvania State Troopers

27

Association to ensure exemplary law enforcement in this

28

Commonwealth through their tireless efforts; and be it further

29

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives wholeheartedly

30

celebrate and commemorate the 50th anniversary of the

establishment of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association;

and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

4

Mr. Joseph R. Kovel, President Pennsylvania State Troopers

5

Association, 3625 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
