INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 27, 2012  

A RESOLUTION

Observing the month of April 2012 as "Donate Life Month" in

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, As of March 20, 2012, more than 113,000 persons

nationwide are awaiting lifesaving organ transplants; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, a total of 14,144 donors enabled 28,535

transplants; and

WHEREAS, Donations of organs can be from living donors,

persons who have been declared brain dead and persons who have

died from cardiac arrest; and

WHEREAS, The month of April is set aside each year to promote

organ donation and to celebrate the lifesaving work of

transplant team medical professionals and researchers who have

made organ transplantation a safe medical procedure; therefore

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives observe the month

of April 2012 as "Donate Life Month" in Pennsylvania.
