| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Honoring Patty Jackson, midday host of 105.3 WDAS-FM, on her |
2 | silver anniversary in radio broadcasting. |
3 | WHEREAS, Lovingly known as the local girl from 23rd and |
4 | Ellsworth Streets, Patty Jackson is widely regarded as a warm, |
5 | soulful and inviting Philadelphian, radio host and public |
6 | servant; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Patty Jackson was born on November 4, 1963, in |
8 | Philadelphia and has spent nearly her entire life in her Point |
9 | Breeze home; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson began her education at southwest |
11 | Philadelphia's Lambert Elementary School and later attended |
12 | South Philadelphia Motivation High School; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Always in front of a microphone, Ms. Jackson knew |
14 | her destiny, and upon high school graduation, she enrolled in |
15 | the American Academy of Broadcasting; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Shortly after enrolling in the academy, Ms. Jackson |

1 | found herself embarking on her radio career in Camden, New |
2 | Jersey, on WSSJ-FM; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson's dedication and personality carried her |
4 | to various other radio stations, including Power 99 FM and Q102, |
5 | which showcased various types of music, ranging from country to |
6 | urban and pop; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Despite Ms. Jackson's diverse radio abilities, she |
8 | found a home and family at WDAS-FM; and |
9 | WHEREAS, WDAS-FM listeners enjoy this "Entertainment Queen" |
10 | who shares music and entertainment news Monday through Saturday; |
11 | and |
12 | WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson has extended her career beyond radio, |
13 | lending her talents as a weekly entertainment columnist for the |
14 | Philadelphia Tribune, as the official voice of welcome at |
15 | Philadelphia International Airport and as a television |
16 | entertainment correspondent for CN8; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Ms. Jackson has also served as a dedicated steward |
18 | to numerous community and civic endeavors, continually donating |
19 | her time to the annual AIDS and diabetes walks and the Breast |
20 | Cancer Race for the Cure Walk; and |
21 | WHEREAS, To her great credit, Ms. Jackson has been honored as |
22 | the Communicator of the Year by the National Black MBA |
23 | Association, Inc., Favorite Radio Personality by readers of the |
24 | Philadelphia Tribune for four consecutive years, has received |
25 | the South Philadelphia Living Legends Award, the A.I.R. Award |
26 | for milestone achievement in radio, and Best Weekday, Midday |
27 | Host by the March of Dimes and was also honored by the |
28 | Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists for outstanding |
29 | community service; and |
30 | WHEREAS, In addition to the many honors Ms. Jackson has |

1 | received, she has been nominated for several awards, including |
2 | the Billboard/Airplay Monitor Radio Awards Local Air Personality |
3 | of the Year, and the awards and acknowledgments will only |
4 | continue to grow; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Despite the many acknowledgments and awards Ms. |
6 | Jackson has received, she believes her best reward is the love |
7 | her listeners have shown her; therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its |
9 | profound congratulations to Patty Jackson on her silver |
10 | anniversary years in radio broadcasting. |
