A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life of United States Marine Corps Corporal

2

Jonathan Dean Faircloth, who died while taking part in

3

training maneuvers at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

4

WHEREAS, United States Marine Corps Corporal Jonathan Dean

5

Faircloth, 22, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, while taking

6

part in training maneuvers at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay,

7

Hawaii; and

8

WHEREAS, Corporal Faircloth was born in York on May 7, 1988,

9

and graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School in 2006; and

10

WHEREAS, He joined the Marine Corps in 2006 and was deployed

11

to Iraq in 2008 and to Afghanistan in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Corporal Faircloth served as an aerial observer and

2

aircraft mechanic throughout his five-year military career; and

3

WHEREAS, For his exemplary service, Corporal Faircloth was

4

awarded four Air Medals, two Navy-Marine Corps Achievement

5

Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal,

6

the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National

7

Defense Service Medal; and

8

WHEREAS, Corporal Faircloth is survived by his wife, Alicia;

9

parents, Beverly and Dean Faircloth; sister, Danielle L. Rodkey;

10

brother James; maternal grandmother, Beryl Yost; nephews and

11

nieces and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and

12

WHEREAS, At all times throughout his military career,

13

Corporal Faircloth served his nation with pride, devotion, honor

14

and skill, and his tragic and heroic death during training

15

maneuvers exemplifies the dangers that our brave young

16

servicemen and servicewomen face every day as they safeguard our

17

freedoms; therefore be it 

18

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life of

19

United States Marine Corps Corporal Jonathan Dean Faircloth, who

20

died while taking part in training maneuvers at Marine Corps

21

Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
