A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of June 12 through 19, 2011, as "State

2

Veterans' Home Week" in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, The history of our nation reflects the memories of

4

the men and women who have endeavored to preserve our freedom,

5

and whose task, while indescribable in terms of sacrifice and

6

commitment, stands as a lasting tribute to the ideals we value

7

as Americans; and

8

WHEREAS, These heroes, every man and woman, relinquished a

9

part of their lives in defense of the United States; and

10

WHEREAS, Their struggles will never be forgotten, overlooked

11

or underestimated; and

12

WHEREAS, Those who served our country in the United States

Armed Forces forever carry the virtues of liberty, freedom and

2

the right to independence; and

3

WHEREAS, As citizens of the United States of America, we owe

4

an inexpressible debt to these men and women; and

5

WHEREAS, We take time here to thank each of these American

6

heroes, past and present; and

7

WHEREAS, The Commonwealth has, for more than 100 years,

8

provided a home for these distinguished veterans in need; and

9

WHEREAS, The citizens of this Commonwealth will continue to

10

honor their veterans by providing them with support; therefore

11

be it

12

RESOLVED, That, in recognition of our veterans and veterans'

13

homes, the House of Representatives designate the week of June

14

12 through 19, 2011, as "State Veterans' Home Week" in

15

Pennsylvania and encourage all citizens to visit a State-

16

supported home in Erie, Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh,

17

Scranton or Spring City and to thank these veterans and the

18

personnel who serve them.
