INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JUNE 2, 2011  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Lycoming County for receiving the designation by

Safe Communities Canada as the world's 201st International

Safe Community.

WHEREAS, On Saturday August 21, 2010, in Williamsport,

Pennsylvania, the home of the Little League World Series,

Lycoming County was designated by Safe Communities Canada, a

Certifying Centre for the World Health Organization

Collaborating Centre on Community Safety Promotion as the

world's 201st International Safe Community; and

WHEREAS, The Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition

prepared and filed the application on behalf of Lycoming County

to obtain the prestigious designation; and

WHEREAS, Lycoming County is the first site in this

Commonwealth to receive this designation; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize

Lycoming County for receiving the honor of being designated the

201st International Safe Community in 2010.
