INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, APRIL 26, 2011  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing April 30, 2011, as "National Prescription Drug Take

2

Back Day" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, On April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Drug

4

Enforcement Administration (DEA) will provide the public with an

5

opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired,

6

unused and unwanted prescription drugs; and

7

WHEREAS, This day has been designated by the DEA as "National

8

Prescription Drug Take Back Day"; and

9

WHEREAS, Drugs may be taken to local collection sites for

10

safe disposal; and

11

WHEREAS, At the first such event on September 25, 2010,

12

Americans turned in 242,000 pounds of prescription drugs at

13

nearly 4,100 sites operated by local law enforcement agencies in

14

partnership with the DEA; and

15

WHEREAS, The in-home safety aspects provided by safe and

reliable drug disposal are many, especially if there are young

2

children, elderly family members or intentional drug abusers in

3

the home; therefore be it

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize April

5

30, 2011, as "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day" in

6

Pennsylvania.
