| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating the week of April 10 through 16, 2011, as "Volunteer |
2 | Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Volunteerism strengthens this Commonwealth's |
4 | communities, improves its vital social concerns and enhances the |
5 | overall quality of life for all its citizens, including |
6 | children, seniors, persons with disabilities and people who are |
7 | impoverished, homeless, physically or mentally ill or otherwise |
8 | in need of assistance; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Volunteering can provide life-changing experiences |
10 | and bring about positive change such as increased self- |
11 | confidence, self-satisfaction, physical well-being and |
12 | opportunities to make friends and to gain new skills; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Volunteers affect positive change through large and |
14 | small volunteer actions and have the power to make a difference; |
15 | and |

1 | WHEREAS, Volunteers are a vital component of this |
2 | Commonwealth's future and its citizens' combined efforts ensure |
3 | a true commitment of service to others; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The practice of regularly volunteering time to |
5 | community service projects should be promoted throughout |
6 | Pennsylvania, as it enriches the lives of both those who receive |
7 | services and those who volunteer; therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the |
9 | week of April 10 through 16, 2011, as "Volunteer Appreciation |
10 | Week" in Pennsylvania. |
