INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 17, 2011  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Honoring Schramm, Inc., and its employees for their technology,

2

resourcefulness and assistance in the rescue of 33 Chilean

3

miners.

4

WHEREAS, On August 5, 2010, there was a cave-in at the San

5

Jose Mine 500 miles north of Santiago, Chile; and

6

WHEREAS, Thirty-three Chilean miners were trapped 2,070 feet

7

underground in the mining cave-in; and

8

WHEREAS, Seventeen days later, on August 22, 2010, the 33

9

trapped Chilean miners were first located; and

10

WHEREAS, The rescue effort in Chile lacked the resources

11

necessary for a successful and expedient recovery of the trapped

12

miners; and

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc., is a long-standing, Pennsylvania-

2

based drilling manufacturer and supplier; and

3

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc., sent two drilling rigs and drills to

4

Chile to assist in the miner rescue operation; and

5

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc.'s T685WS drill was used early in the

6

operation to supply food, communications and other supplies to

7

the trapped miners; and

8

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc.'s T130XD mobile drilling rig, which is

9

now nicknamed "the Miracle," was utilized to make the miners'

10

ultimate escape a success; and

11

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc.'s employees and sales representatives

12

were dispatched to the mine to assist in the rescue efforts; and

13

WHEREAS, Schramm, Inc., acted quickly and effectively in

14

assisting with the rescue effort; therefore be it

15

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor Schramm,

16

Inc., and its employees for their technology, resourcefulness

17

and assistance; and be it further

18

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

19

the President of Schramm, Inc., Ed Breiner, in recognition of

20

the company's and employees' efforts in rescuing the Chilean

21

miners.
