AN ACT

Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An

act relating to the public school system, including certain

provisions applicable as well to private and parochial

schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the

laws relating thereto," in high schools, providing for

archiving of high school transcripts by private schools in

cities of the first class.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known

as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a

section to read:

Section 1617.  Archiving of High School Transcripts by

Private Schools in Cities of the First Class.--(a)  A private

school in a city of the first class shall archive its student

high school transcripts and make them available to former

students in accordance with regulations promulgated by the

Department of Education.

(b)  The Department of Education shall promulgate regulations

requiring private schools in a city of the first class that

maintain student high school transcripts to archive the

transcripts in such a manner that, in the event the private

school is closed, a former student for whom a high school

transcript was produced by the private school will be able to

obtain a copy of the former student's transcript consistent with

uniform record retention provisions.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
