| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An |
2 | act relating to the public school system, including certain |
3 | provisions applicable as well to private and parochial |
4 | schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the |
5 | laws relating thereto," in high schools, providing for |
6 | archiving of high school transcripts by private schools in |
7 | cities of the first class. |
8 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
9 | hereby enacts as follows: |
10 | Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known |
11 | as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a |
12 | section to read: |
13 | Section 1617. Archiving of High School Transcripts by |
14 | Private Schools in Cities of the First Class.--(a) A private |
15 | school in a city of the first class shall archive its student |
16 | high school transcripts and make them available to former |
17 | students in accordance with regulations promulgated by the |
18 | Department of Education. |
19 | (b) The Department of Education shall promulgate regulations |
20 | requiring private schools in a city of the first class that |

1 | maintain student high school transcripts to archive the |
2 | transcripts in such a manner that, in the event the private |
3 | school is closed, a former student for whom a high school |
4 | transcript was produced by the private school will be able to |
5 | obtain a copy of the former student's transcript consistent with |
6 | uniform record retention provisions. |
7 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
