AN ACT

  

1

Designating a bridge carrying State Route 2009, formerly the

2

Huff Road Bridge, in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana

3

County, and in St. Clair Township and New Florence Borough,

4

Westmoreland County, as the PFC Robert "Piney Decker"

5

Nadolski Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

7

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  PFC Robert "Piney Decker" Nadolski Memorial Bridge.

(a)  Declaration of policy.--The General Assembly finds and

10

declares as follows:

(1)  Private First Class Robert "Piney Decker" Nadolski

12

was a native of New Florence, Pennsylvania and enlisted in

13

the United States Army; and

14

(2)  PFC Nadolski served in the United States Army from

15

1966 to 1967; and

(3)  PFC Nadolski was in C Company, 1st Battalion, 18th

2

Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division of the United States

3

Army; and

4

(4)  PFC Nadolski's unit was deployed to South Vietnam

5

for the purpose of providing security in the Bien Hoa

6

Province, and on January 1, 1967, PFC Nadolski died from

7

wounds received from enemy sniper fire; and

8

(5)  PFC Nadolski was awarded the Purple Heart and the

9

Republic of Vietnam posthumously awarded PFC Nadolski the

10

Military Merit Medal and the Gallantry Cross with Palm; and

11

(6)  PFC Nadolski, beloved son of Verna M. Decker, was

12

courageously serving his country and the campaign for freedom

13

at the time of his death and his excellence as a soldier has

14

been extolled by many.

(b)  Designation.--State Route 2009, formerly the Huff Road

16

Bridge, in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, and in St.

17

Clair Township and New Florence Borough, Westmoreland County, is

18

designated as the PFC Robert "Piney Decker" Nadolski Memorial

19

Bridge.

20

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

21

maintain appropriate signs to indicate the designation under

22

subsection (b).

Section 2.  Effective date.

24

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
