AN ACT

Designating a bridge carrying U.S. Route 202 over the Neshaminy

2

Creek in Doylestown Township, Bucks County, as the First

3

Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion Memorial

7

Bridge.

(a)  Declaration of policy.--The General Assembly finds and

9

declares as follows:

10

(1)  First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion was a resident

11

of Doylestown and was a decorated student athlete at LaSalle

12

College High School.

13

(2)  First Lieutenant Manion graduated from the United

14

States Naval Academy in 2004.

15

(3)  First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion was assigned to

16

the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I

17

Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Pendleton,

18

California.

(4)  First Lieutenant Manion was serving his second tour

2

of duty in the Al Anbar province, Iraq, when on April 29,

3

2007, he gave his life to save the lives of his entire patrol

4

of Marines.

5

(5)  First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion was awarded the

6

Bronze Star with Valor and the Silver Star for his actions in

7

Iraq.

8

(6)  First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion made the

9

ultimate sacrifice in defense of his country and its

10

freedoms.

(b)  Designation.--U.S. Route 202, Parkway Bridge, also

12

carrying a 12-foot-wide shared-use path, over the Neshaminy

13

Creek in Doylestown Township, Bucks County, is hereby designated

14

as the First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion Memorial Bridge.

15

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

16

maintain appropriate signs with the inscription "In Honor of

17

First Lieutenant Travis Lemma Manion, USMC - KIA, Operation

18

Iraqi Freedom 2007" to indicate the designation under subsection

19

(b).

Section 2.  Effective date.

21

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
