AN ACT

Designating the westbound bridge carrying Interstate 90 over Six

2

Mile Creek in Harborcreek Township, Erie County, as the

3

Jarrid L. King Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Jarrid L. King Memorial Bridge.

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as

8

follows:

(1)  Jarrid L. King expressed a desire to serve his

10

country at a young age and enlisted in the United States Army

11

in March 2009.

(2)  Corporal King left for active duty on April 1, 2009,

13

and was assigned to the 693rd Sapper Company, 7th Engineer

Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division,

2

Fort Drum, New York.

3

(3)  Corporal King was killed in Ghazni province,

4

Afghanistan, on January 12, 2011, while supporting Operation

5

Enduring Freedom, when enemy forces attacked his unit with an

6

improvised explosive device.

7

(b)  Designation.--The westbound bridge carrying Interstate

8

90 over Six Mile Creek in Harborcreek Township, Erie County, is

9

hereby designated and shall be known as the Jarrid L. King

10

Memorial Bridge.

11

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

12

maintain appropriate signs to traffic in the westbound direction

13

to indicate the designation under subsection (b).

Section 2.  Effective date.

15

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
