| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Designating the bridge crossing Marsh Creek on Business Route | <-- |
2 | 15, joining Freedom Township and Cumberland Township, Adams |
3 | County, as the Wildlife Conservation Officer David L. Grove |
4 | Memorial Bridge. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Wildlife Conservation Officer David L. Grove |
8 | Memorial Bridge. |
9 | (a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as |
10 | follows: |
11 | (1) David L. Grove was born March 5, 1979, in |
12 | Chambersburg, Franklin County, and graduated from Grace |
13 | Academy in Hagerstown in 1997. He received his bachelor's |
14 | degree in Wildlife Sciences from The Pennsylvania State |
15 | University in 2004. |
16 | (2) Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) Grove completed |
17 | training and certification at the Ross Leffler School of |
18 | Conservation and became a wildlife conservation officer for |
19 | the Pennsylvania Game Commission. |

1 | (3) WCO Grove served Southern Adams County since 2008, |
2 | having first worked as a deputy WCO in Franklin and Centre |
3 | Counties from 2001 until 2007. |
4 | (4) WCO Grove took great pride in his work and was a |
5 | dedicated, determined and exceptional wildlife conservation |
6 | officer who enthusiastically fulfilled his duties to protect |
7 | and promote Pennsylvania's wildlife populations. |
8 | (5) WCO Grove gave his life on November 11, 2010, in |
9 | Freedom Township, Adams County, in the performance of the |
10 | duties he so readily accepted. His heroic actions, after a |
11 | tragic confrontation, led to the arrest and prosecution of |
12 | his assailant. |
13 | (b) Designation.—-The bridge crossing Marsh Creek on | <-- |
14 | Business Route 15, joining Freedom Township and Cumberland |
15 | Township, Adams County, is hereby designated the Wildlife |
16 | Conservation Officer David L. Grove Memorial Bridge. |
17 | (c) Signs.–-The Department of Transportation shall erect and |
18 | maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to |
19 | traffic in both directions on the bridge. |
20 | Section 2. Effective date. |
21 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
