AN ACT

Designating the bridge crossing Marsh Creek, joining Freedom

2

Township and Cumberland Township, Adams County, as the

3

Wildlife Conservation Officer David L. Grove Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Wildlife Conservation Officer David L. Grove

7

Memorial Bridge.

8

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as

9

follows:

(1)  David L. Grove was born March 5, 1979, in

11

Chambersburg, Franklin County, and graduated from Grace

12

Academy in Hagerstown in 1997. He received his bachelor's

13

degree in Wildlife Sciences from The Pennsylvania State

14

University in 2004.

15

(2)  Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) Grove completed

16

training and certification at the Ross Leffler School of

17

Conservation and became a wildlife conservation officer for

18

the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

(3)  WCO Grove served Southern Adams County since 2008,

having first worked as a deputy WCO in Franklin and Centre

2

Counties from 2001 until 2007.

(4)  WCO Grove took great pride in his work and was a

4

dedicated, determined and exceptional wildlife conservation

5

officer who enthusiastically fulfilled his duties to protect

6

and promote Pennsylvania's wildlife populations.

(5)  WCO Grove gave his life on November 11, 2010, in

8

Freedom Township, Adams County, in the performance of the

9

duties he so readily accepted. His heroic actions, after a

10

tragic confrontation, led to the arrest and prosecution of

11

his assailant.

(b)  Designation.—-The bridge crossing Marsh Creek, joining

13

Freedom Township and Cumberland Township, Adams County, is

14

hereby designated the Wildlife Conservation Officer David L.

15

Grove Memorial Bridge.

16

(c)  Signs.–-The Department of Transportation shall erect and

17

maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to

18

traffic in both directions on the bridge.

19

Section 2.  Effective date.

20

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
