AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the offense of

retail theft.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Section 3929(b)(1)(v) of Title 18 of the

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

§ 3929.  Retail theft.

(b)  Grading.--

(1)  Retail theft constitutes a:

(v)  Felony of the third degree when the amount

involved exceeds [$2,000] $1,000 or if the merchandise

involved is a firearm or a motor vehicle.

Section 2.  The amendment of 18 Pa.C.S. § 3929(b)(1)(v) shall

apply to offenses committed on or after the effective date of

this section.

Section 3.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
