| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An |
2 | act relating to the public school system, including certain |
3 | provisions applicable as well to private and parochial |
4 | schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the |
5 | laws relating thereto," further providing for granting of |
6 | provisional college certificates; and providing for |
7 | provisional vocational education certificates. |
8 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
9 | hereby enacts as follows: |
10 | Section 1. Section 1204 of the act of March 10, 1949 |
11 | (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, |
12 | amended October 21, 1965 (P.L.601, No.312), is amended to read: |
13 | Section 1204. Granting Provisional College Certificates.-- |
14 | The [Superintendent of Public Instruction] Secretary of |
15 | Education may grant a provisional college certificate to every |
16 | person who presents to [him] the Department of Education |
17 | satisfactory evidence of good moral character, and of being a |
18 | graduate of an approved college or university, who has completed |
19 | such work in education as may be required by the standards of |

1 | the State Board of Education, and to every person who presents |
2 | to [him] the Department of Education satisfactory evidence of |
3 | good moral character, and of being a graduate of music, with the |
4 | degree of bachelor of music of an approved college or |
5 | university, who has during such musical course completed the |
6 | prescribed number of hours of professional studies, which |
7 | certificate shall entitle [him] the individual to teach for |
8 | three annual school terms, and may be renewed for one additional |
9 | three-year period in accordance with standards to be established |
10 | by the State Board of Education. |
11 | Section 2. The act is amended by adding a section to read: |
12 | Section 1204.2. Provisional Education Certificate.--The |
13 | Secretary of Education may grant a provisional vocational |
14 | education certificate to every person who presents to the |
15 | Department of Education satisfactory evidence of good moral |
16 | character, and who has completed such work in vocational |
17 | education as may be required by the standards of the State Board |
18 | of Education, which certificate shall entitle the individual to |
19 | teach for eight annual school terms. |
20 | Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
