AN ACT

Designating the Mill Creek Bridge on the new Route 202 Parkway

2

in Warrington Township, Bucks County, as the George W.

3

Niblock Bridge.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  George W. Niblock Bridge.

7

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as

8

follows:

9

(1)  George W. Niblock is recognized as a longtime

10

proponent and tireless advocate for what will soon be

11

realized as the 8.6-mile Route 202 Parkway in Bucks and

12

Montgomery Counties.

13

(2)  Niblock and a group of concerned citizens founded

14

the citizens' group "Support the Bypass for Route 202." He

15

coordinated town hall meetings, prepared and collected

16

petitions in support of the project, represented Bucks County

17

in meetings with State officials on the issue of the bypass

18

and served as liaison between State and local officials and

the Department of Transportation during the design of the

2

corridor.

(3)  Niblock was born on November 19, 1931, in Spring

4

House, Pennsylvania. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State

5

University with a degree in mechanical engineering and later

6

graduated from LaSalle University with a business degree.

7

(4)  Niblock was president of Niblock and Associates, a

8

small-equipment supplier to the food service industry. He is

9

now semiretired.

10

(5)  Niblock remains active as a board member of the

11

Bucks County Economic Development Corporation, serving as

12

Chairman of the Transportation Committee. He also is a member

13

of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

14

(6)  Niblock and his wife of 50 years, Jeanne, have

15

resided in Bucks County for 49 years. They have two

16

daughters, Amy and Meg, and have five grandchildren.

17

(b)  Designation.--The Mill Creek Bridge on the new Route 202

18

Parkway in Warrington Township, Bucks County, is hereby

19

designated as the George W. Niblock Bridge.

20

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

21

maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to

22

traffic in both directions.

Section 2.  Effective date.

24

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
