A RESOLUTION

Recognizing, honoring and celebrating Chestnut Hill in the City

2

of Philadelphia upon its selection by the National Trust for

3

Historic Preservation as one of the 2010 Dozen Distinctive

4

Destinations.

5

WHEREAS, The Dozen Distinctive Destinations program of the

6

National Trust for Historic Preservation recognizes unique

7

cities and towns across the country working to preserve historic

8

character, promote heritage tourism, enhance community and

9

encourage others to enjoy all they have to offer; and

10

WHEREAS, Each year since 2000, the Dozen Distinctive

11

Destinations program has recognized authentic visitor

12

experiences created where a dynamic downtown, diverse cultural

13

activities, attractive architecture and a strong commitment to

14

historic preservation, sustainability and revitalization are all

15

present; and

16

WHEREAS, Chestnut Hill's unique characteristics include the

17

green ethic and heritage tourism infrastructure associated with

18

its dynamic downtown and preservation commitment; and

19

WHEREAS, With its historic character and charm as well as its

varied activities and broad appeal to individuals, couples and

2

families, Chestnut Hill exemplifies all that the City of

3

Philadelphia can and should be; and

4

WHEREAS, The National Trust for Historic Preservation is

5

promoting Chestnut Hill on a dedicated web page on its Internet

6

website, which more than 200,000 visitors access per month; and

7

WHEREAS, The National Trust for Historic Preservation is

8

further promoting Chestnut Hill with a feature story in its

9

award-winning magazine, Preservation; and

10

WHEREAS, Through February 28, 2010, members of the public are

11

voting online for a Fan Favorite among the 2010 destinations at

12

www.chestnuthillpa.com; therefore be it

13

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize, honor and celebrate

14

Chestnut Hill in the City of Philadelphia upon its selection by

15

the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the 2010

16

Dozen Distinctive Destinations; and be it further

17

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

18

the Chestnut Hill Business Association at the Chestnut Hill

19

Visitor's Center, 8426 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19118.
