SENATE BILL

REFERRED TO LABOR AND INDUSTRY, DECEMBER 17, 2009  

AN ACT

Amending the act of June 25, 1919 (P.L.581, No.274), entitled

"An act for the better government of cities of the first

class of this Commonwealth," providing for layoff of police

and fire forces employees.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Article V of the act of June 25, 1919 (P.L.581,

No.274), referred to as the First Class City Government Law, is

amended by adding a section to read:

Section 7.  No employe of the police or fire forces may be

laid off prior to any other city employe in any year unless the

population of the city decreases by ten per cent in that year.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
