SENATE BILL

AN ACT

Designating a bridge on that portion of Route 219 over the

Little Toby Creek, Brockway Borough, Jefferson County, as the

Christopher E. Loudon Memorial Bridge.

The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:

(1)  Christopher E. Loudon was born on March 25, 1983, in

DuBois City, Clearfield County.

(2)  He graduated from Slippery Rock University with a

baccalaureate degree in environmental science in 2005.

(3)  After graduation, Christopher Loudon entered the

United States Army on September 9, 2005, was commissioned as

an infantry officer and was assigned to 2nd Platoon, Charlie

Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade,

4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.

(4)  Second Lieutenant Loudon deployed to Iraq in July

2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

(5)  Second Lieutenant Loudon was killed in Baghdad,

Iraq, on October 17, 2006, when an improvised explosive

device detonated near his vehicle.

(6)  During his service in the United States Army, Second

Lieutenant Loudon received the following awards and

decorations: the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the

National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the

Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service

Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Ranger Tab.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Christopher E. Loudon Memorial Bridge.

(a)  Designation.--The bridge located on Route 219 over the

Little Toby Creek, Brockway Borough, Jefferson County, is hereby

designated the Christopher E. Loudon Memorial Bridge.

(b)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to

traffic in both directions on the bridge.

Section 2.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect immediately.
