AN ACT

Authorizing and directing the Department of Transportation to

2

erect sound barriers on certain sections of Interstate 95 in

3

Bensalem Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with the

4

Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to pay certain costs

5

associated with the project.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

7

hereby enacts as follows:

8

Section 1.  Construction.

9

The Department of Transportation shall erect sound barriers

10

on both the northbound and southbound sections of Interstate 95

11

in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as described

12

in section 2.

Section 2.  Location.

14

The location of the sound barriers are:

15

(1)  The northbound section of Interstate 95 (I-95) are

16

as follows:

17

(i)  Corner of Oak Lane and I-95 (mile marker 37.2)

18

through to Vandergrift Lane and I-95 (mile marker 37.5).

(ii)  Kleckner Road and I-95 (mile marker 38.1)

through to Dunston Road and I-95 (mile marker 38.4).

(iii)  Laurel Avenue (mile marker 33.9) to Tennis

2

Avenue (mile marker 34.2).

(iv)  Maria Court (mile marker 34.3) to Kings Lane

4

(mile marker 34.4).

(2)  The southbound sections shall be erected between:

6

(i)  Neshaminy Creek (mile marker 38.4) and the

7

intersection of State Route 13 (mile marker 37.2).

8

(ii)  Frieda Street (mile marker 35.4) to Station

9

Avenue (mile marker 35.0).

Section 3.  Funding.

(a)  Primary funding.--Except as provided for in subsection

12

(b), all costs associated with the construction of the sound

13

barriers described in section 2 shall be borne by the

14

Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

(b)  Other funding.--Any moneys, appropriated or allocated

16

from any other source which may be designated for sound barriers

17

as described in section 2, shall be first applied to this

18

project.

Section 4.  Design and materials.

20

The design for and materials used in the construction of the

21

sound barriers shall be of the design and type which is most

22

suited for use in this area.

Section 5.  Completion date.

24

The sound barriers described in section 2 shall be completed

25

prior to the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange, to be located in

26

the area of the sound barriers, being open to traffic.

27

Section 6.  Contingency.

28

The project to erect sound barriers referred to in this act

29

is contingent upon the completion of the proposed Pennsylvania

30

Turnpike interchange with I-95.

Section 10.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect immediately.
