A RESOLUTION

Commemorating the 250th anniversary celebration of the community

2

of Maytown.

3

WHEREAS, The community of Maytown was founded on May 1, 1760;

4

and

5

WHEREAS, Maytown is recognized as historically important for

6

its support in the Revolutionary War effort; and

7

WHEREAS, Maytown has also contributed to this nation's

8

history by being the birthplace of Simon Cameron, United States

9

Senator and Secretary of War, and hosting notable figures such

10

as President Abraham Lincoln; and

11

WHEREAS, Maytown has continued to maintain a strong sense of

12

community and patriotism by hosting "Old Home Week"

13

celebrations; and

14

WHEREAS, May 1, 2010, will mark the 250th anniversary of

Maytown's founding; and

2

WHEREAS, The community will host a celebration to mark this

3

notable anniversary from April 29 to May 2, 2010; therefore be

4

it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the

6

250th anniversary celebration of Maytown.
