INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JANUARY 19, 2010  

A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of January 24 through 30, 2010, as

"National Nurse Anesthetists Week."

WHEREAS, The demand for anesthesia services expands beyond

hospitals into physicians' offices and other nontraditional

settings; and

WHEREAS, Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) have

been providing high-quality care in this Commonwealth for more

than 100 years, keeping patient safety as their first priority;

and

WHEREAS, CRNAs are trained to administer anesthetics, provide

patient care and stay with patients throughout surgery; and

WHEREAS, CRNAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia

is delivered, including traditional hospital surgical suites,

obstetrical delivery rooms, physicians' offices, ambulatory

surgical centers and medical facilities of the United States

military, Public Health Service and the Department of Veterans

Affairs; and

WHEREAS, This Commonwealth is proud to have more than 2,600

practicing CRNAs consistently administering safe, high-quality

anesthesia care; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

week of January 24 through 30, 2010, as "National Nurse

Anesthetists Week" across the State and recognize these

outstanding health care professionals for their contributions to

the quality of life in this Commonwealth.
