INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, APRIL 28, 2009  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of September 2009 as "POW-MIA Month" in

2

Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, As a result of the United States engagement in the

4

Cold War, 126 United States Air Force servicemen remain missing,

5

16 of whom are from this Commonwealth; and

6

WHEREAS, As a result of the United States military campaign

7

to defend the democracy of South Korea, more than 8,145 United

8

States servicemen remain missing, 589 of whom are from this

9

Commonwealth; and

10

WHEREAS, Thirty-one years after the end of the Vietnam War

11

1,806 servicemen remain missing, 97 of whom are from this

12

Commonwealth; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, with gratitude

2

for the sacrifices of missing soldiers and their families,

3

designate the month of September 2009 as "POW-MIA Month" in

4

Pennsylvania; and be it further

5

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to

6

the Governor, to the Adjutant General, to county Veterans

7

Affairs offices and to other veterans organizations.
