A RESOLUTION

Designating the month of March 2009 as "Youth Art Month" in

2

Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, Art education is a viable endeavor, contributing

4

educational benefits such as developing creative problem-solving

5

abilities and critical thinking abilities in elementary and

6

secondary students; and

7

WHEREAS, Art education provides tools for students to lead

8

fuller, more meaningful lives by teaching sensitivity to beauty,

9

order and other qualities; and

10

WHEREAS, Art education allows students to develop a deeper

11

understanding of other cultures and beliefs; and

12

WHEREAS, Art education enhances and reinforces the knowledge

13

students gain in other subjects; and

WHEREAS, National leaders recognize the necessity of

2

including art education in all students' academic experience;

3

therefore be it

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

5

month of March 2009 as "Youth Art Month" in Pennsylvania in

6

recognition of the value of art education as a fundamental part

7

of our educational system and an essential and viable academic

8

endeavor.
