A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of February 8 through 14, 2009, as

2

"National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week" in

3

Pennsylvania.

4

WHEREAS, The purpose of the National Salute to Hospitalized

5

Veterans Program is to pay tribute and express appreciation to

6

hospitalized veterans, increase community awareness of the role

7

of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical

8

center and to encourage citizens to visit hospitalized veterans

9

and to become involved as volunteers; and

10

WHEREAS, This year will mark the 30th annual National Salute

11

to Hospitalized Veterans Week; and

12

WHEREAS, Each year, the week in February which includes the

13

14th is our opportunity to say thank you to a special group of

14

more than 98,000 men and women veterans of the United States

Armed Forces who are cared for every day in the VA medical

2

centers, outpatient clinics, domiciliaries and nursing homes;

3

therefore be it

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

5

week of February 8 through 14, 2009, as "National Salute to

6

Hospitalized Veterans Week" in Pennsylvania.
