A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and service of Northampton County Councilman

2

Wayne Grube and expressing sincere condolences upon his

3

death.

4

WHEREAS, Wayne Grube, of Hanover Township, Northampton

5

County, a longtime participant in State and local government,

6

died on November 11, 2008; and

7

WHEREAS, Born on March 27, 1934, in the City of Easton, Mr.

8

Grube served four years in the United States Navy before earning

9

a secondary education degree from East Stroudsburg State

10

College; and

11

WHEREAS, Mr. Grube went on to become head football coach of

12

Easton Area High School, where he had a record of 81-44-6,

13

including two undefeated seasons, and won two conference

14

championships; and

15

WHEREAS, After serving briefly as an assistant coach with

Lehigh University, Mr. Grube returned to coach the Wilson Area

2

High School football team, compiling a 63-45 record and earning

3

one Colonial League Championship; and

4

WHEREAS, After 22 years of coaching, Mr. Grube was honored

5

with induction into the McDonald's Lehigh Valley All-Star

6

Football Classic Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Lehigh Valley

7

Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of

8

Fame in 2003; and

9

WHEREAS, In addition to the innumerable students and student-

10

athletes he helped on and off the field during his years as a

11

teacher and coach, Mr. Grube demonstrated a similar dedication

12

to governmental public service; and

13

WHEREAS, Mr. Grube served the past 18 years on the

14

Northampton County Council, including four years as council

15

president, and was a steadfast advocate for Gracedale, the

16

county's nursing home, doing whatever he could to help people

17

get family members admitted; and

18

WHEREAS, The first person hired by State Representative

19

Richard T. Grucela to work in his district office after his

20

election to the House of Representatives in 1998, Mr. Grube

21

spent ten years as a legislative aide; and

22

WHEREAS, Mr. Grube is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patti

23

Grube, three daughters and three grandchildren; and

24

WHEREAS, Mr. Grube's love for, and dedication to, his family,

25

his former students and athletes, Northampton County Council and

26

the House of Representatives, merits the appreciation and

27

gratitude of the House of Representatives; therefore be it

28

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life of

29

Wayne Grube and express condolences upon his death on November

30

11, 2008; and be it further
